Groups in Splio are static groups of objects, created at a fixed time, which do not evolve. Unlike Temporary files, Groups are limited objects already hosted by Splio, and subscribed to at least one list.
The use of groups depends on their scope. Groups of contacts can be used in the same way as filters and temporary files to include or exclude contacts from campaigns. They can also be downloaded.
Groups can be created by extracting a filter, extracting recipients from a campaign, or importing from an external source, e.g., Eulerian (known contacts only).
Extract a Filter to a Group
This method produces a static extract, or "snapshot", of a given filter at a given time.
To create a group from a filter, go to Target > Filters, find the filter you want to extract, and open it. Select "Create group from filter" from the "Tools" menu.
You will be asked to provide a name for the new group (see below). Click the green "create" button to confirm.
Splio will now recount the filter to include the latest data, then extract its contents as a new Group.
You have an option to create a group containing only some of the contacts from the filter. To do so, use the "Random group" switch as shown below and type the percentage to be used.
In this example, a random group containing 35% of filter members will be created
Extract a Campaign's recipients to a Group
You can extract a Campaign action's recipients only as long as its statistics are not archived.
To extract recipients of an action, go to Scenario > Campaigns, find your Campaign, and click on the desired Action to open it. Once there, open the "Download" menu from the top bar.
Now, select the Save as a group option and click the "Download" button at the bottom right. You can also extract a subset of the recipients of the campaign by applying criteria.
Import Eulerian Segments as Groups
If you are using Eulerian for your website tracking, you can use a feature allowing you to create segments in Eulerian and import them as Groups.
To enable it, first call your Eulerian representative who can activate it for you. Then call your Splio Account Manager to activate the connection on the side of your universe.
Once the connection is properly setup and your Eulerian segments are imported, you can start using them in your campaigns.
Note: Only known contacts in database will be kept in the groups.
