To choose the appropriate operator, it is important to understand their functionality considering these two operators do not have the same way of targeting contacts:
- The "contains" operator is relative, this means that it will target the contacts that meet the selection criteria
- The "equal" operator is exclusive, it means that it will target the contacts that strictly meet the condition
Example of targeting lists
For instance, if we want to target the contacts listed in list n ° 0, we will put in place:
- The condition "Subscriptions – contains - 0” will allow you to select all the contacts registered in the list n ° 0 (without taking into account any other subscriptions)
- The condition "Subscription – equals - 0" will allow you to select the contacts which are only registered in the list n ° 0
In general, we recommend using the "contains" operator because it is less restrictive for targeting reasons.
