Sooner or later, your marketing campaigns will include operations which reach recipients by channels other than email, SMS, or even WeChat (external channels). We call them “print campaigns” or, more officially, “X-Channel campaigns”.
Splio offers you a tool, in the form of the “X-Channel”, which will allow you to integrate your print campaigns with the rest of your marketing operations as smoothly as any other type of campaign, including the retargeting feature.
Step One: Create a filter for the print campaign
Step Two: Extract and send contacts
Step Three: Create an X-Channel campaign
Step Four: Use the campain category to retarget
Step One: Create a filter for the print campaign
Use the “New” button in the top bar to create a new filter. Make sure the scope of the filter is “Contacts”.
Scenario - X-Channel campaign - Create initial filter
Set conditions according to your requirements, just as you would for any other kind of campaign.
Step Two: Extract and send contacts
When the filter is ready, click on the download icon in the top bar. Click “CSV” or “Compressed CSV” to download the contents of the filter to you computer.
Scenario - X-Channel campaign - Extract and send
A compressed CSV is a ZIP archive containing the CSV file. By using compression you can save time and bandwidth necessary to download and upload data.
Send the extracted data to the mail provider (or another party who will provide the delivery through the external channel).
Step Three: Create an X-Channel campaign
You need to create a scenario for the X-Channel campaign in Splio to simulate sending the campaign within your universe. By doing it you gain the ability to [retarget] using the recipients of X-Channel campaigns.
Use the “New” button in the top bar again, this time to create a new campaign.
Make sure to assign a category to your campaign, it will be crucial later!
Use the drop-down list to select the database field which will be used to deduplicate the contacts used in the campaign. Email is the default field in most Splio universes.
Select the filter you created in Step One as the population of your X-Channel campaign. Click on the green “Plus” button by the filter and confirm with the “Validate” button.
Click the “Add sequence” button. In the dialog panel that opens, you can modify the date of the campaign. Validate to continue.
You can now preview the X-Channel campaign. Click the save button in the lower right corner of the window to store your campaign.
You are taken to the overview of a ready campaign. Make sure to click on the “Launch campaign” button in the lower right corner of the window. This way you inform Splio that the X-Channel campaign is sent.
Step Four: Use the campain category to retarget
Create a new filter for retargeting. Make sure that the scope is “Contacts”, just like in the first step.
Go to “Conditions” and click the “Add condition” button. Switch to the “Advanced behavior” group and add the “Channel X” condition, as shown in the image below. Confirm with the “Select” button.
The first condition is mandatory. In the example we just set the requirements of being targeted more than 0 times.
The key is the third condition where you can select the campaign category (you do not need to type it, clicking on the magnifying glass opens a list of existing categories). This category determines which X-Channel campaigns will be taken into account when counting the number of times a contact has been targeted.
