Does the "STOP" function work on messages sent abroad ?
The STOP SMS function only works on messages sent to France (regardless of whether they are French or foreign numbers). To allow the unsubscription of contacts located abroad, it is necessary to use an unsubscribe link inserted with the variable as below :
$unsubUrl$
SMS sent from the same campaign contain a different STOP number, is this normal ?
Yes, this behavior is normal because the number changes depending on the router used for SMS delivery. On the same campaign, several routers send the messages to ensure that everything will be delivered as quickly as possible. When a message is sent to a router, the STOP number changes to allow them to collect the unsubscribe request and forward it to Splio.
The customization of the SMS sender name does not work on messages sent to France, why?
The personalization of the SMS sender name (Sender ID) works if and only if the message contains a mention and STOP number. In practice, the customization of the messages sent on the French network is possible only if the message contains:
- a "STOP" mention
- an unsubscribe number
In case of problems please check the presence and conformity of these elements. They must appear in the format "STOP 36XXX". All these rules are not valid on SMS sent abroad (Spain, Italy, etc.).
Can I send an SMS campaign to contacts with EMAIL in blacklists?
By default, email and SMS blacklists are not synchronized. A contact with email in blacklist can be targeted normally by an SMS campaign if it is not in the SMS blacklist.
Is it possible to send an SMS campaign to a foreign country?
From a technical point of view, Splio can send SMS to foreign countries using international format numbers. No change configuration is needed, however there are some constraints you shall take into account.
- the message must use an encoding table according to the country
- the message must have a unsub link
Is it possible to change the SMS sender ID?
The SMS Sender ID (which can be a name or a number and also known as "Caller ID" or "From Number") is the sender shown on the recipient's phone when received. By default, it will appear as "SMS" when sending via the Splio platform.
The SMS Sender ID must respect an alphanumeric format with some limitations, due to the international context (each country has its own restrictions and laws):
- A maximum of 11 alphanumeric characters, from the range A-Z a-z 0-9
- No special character
- No empty space
In addition, it is important to specify that the Sender ID customization is supported by the operators only if the message contains a STOP number, otherwise the customization will not work.
The list of possible names is not modifiable by the users from the application. This adaptation is nevertheless possible on request from the technical support.
Can we customize shortened SMS links?
Splio allows the shortening of links inserted in the SMS sent to contacts. In this case, the inserted links are shortened and the URL starts with "www.spl.io".
To improve user experience, some customers would like to customize this short link to fit with their branding. For technical reasons it is not possible to implement this type of customization so there is no alternative besides using the URL generated by Splio.
How to shorten the URL in an SMS message?
Splio automatically shortens URLs in the SMS messages. This feature is enabled at the SMS design level.
To do this, insert the URL(s) in the message and click on the "Track" button displayed next to the summary link:
- if the button appears in purple, URL shortening is active
- if the button is transparent, URL shortening is not enabled
