Overview
Just as you did when creating your first email campaign, make sure that you have prepared the following:
- Target(s): in the form of WeChat filters or specially imported temporary files containing WeChat data.
- Design(s): WeChat designs that you intend to send. All designs of the news type must be WeChat-compliant.
To begin the campaign creation, click "New Campaign" in Scenario.
About
To begin, enter the information about your campaign in the "About" section:
- Campaign name*: the name of the campaign, used to identify it in the lists. This field is marked with an asterisk as mandatory.
- Operation code: the unique marketing operation code. It allows identification of all campaigns within a single operation bearing it.
- Campaign category: enter an arbitrary category name if you wish to use it for precise re-targeting.
Once the basic information is filled in, proceed to the creation of the actual campaign.
Channel and target selection
The choice of the starting channel is mandatory, even though campaigns can potentially involve multiple channels, e.g., begin with news in WeChat and end with multiple SMS or emails.
This choice is important since it determines the deduplication method and availability of items in the scenario tree.
In this example, we are going to create a simple WeChat campaign using a text message.
Click the "Select starting channel and population" button, just like you did for your first campaign. Then select WeChat.
You will be asked to pick the population for your campaign. You can include and exclude targets here (with green and red buttons, respectively).
There is a special "Broadcast to all followers" target created by Splio. It helps you target all users in the database who follow your profile.
/!\ Note that you will not be able to add any other target population, control group, seedlist, or split action if you choose this special target.
The total estimated number of recipients will be displayed on the right. This number is based on the last count of targets and lists, and the actual number of recipients will be calculated when the campaign is launched.
Please remember at all times that each individual can only receive 4 WeChat messages from any sender each calendar month. All subsequent sendings will be ignored. Splio offers a counter of messages sent to each user during the current month. However, it is your role as operator to actually exclude recipients from campaigns.
When you click Validate, Splio will calculate the initial population. It may take several minutes depending on the size of the population.
Action configuration
Note that only a single action is required to make the campaign valid: more complex campaigns can contain more actions.
You first need to add a sequence.
Sequences organize the scenario tree, allowing you to choose between single actions, multiple branches, etc.
Use the Schedule page to determine the time of sending. The first sequence in the campaign requires you to set a fixed date. If you leave the default (which is the time of creation), the following action will be sent at the time of the launch.
Now, click the green button to validate the sequence.
Once it is completed, click "Select action" to add one. The action allows you to select a design and set a number of options described below.
Design selection
You will be able to select from among all the designs defined in your library which fit the selected channel.
Designs previously sent or currently in use are excluded from the list. It means you will need to create duplicates of designs you may need to re-use.
Selecting a design activates a preview. You can continue or click "Select another design."
Access to statistics
Here you can select users with stats profiles who will be entitled to see the campaign statistics.
These statistics will be included in the available campaign statistics of these users.
Population
You can configure a control group (using a random sample or a selected control population) and a seed list.
Regarding the limit of 4 messages which can be sent to a single recipient by each sender, it may be considered a good practice to use separate accounts for sending seeds and controls.
Saving and launching your campaign
Once the creation is completed, save your campaign. You will be presented with the overview of the campaign. Provided that everything is in order, you can launch the campaign using the large green button. Saved or launched campaigns can be found in the Scenario module in their appropriate sections.
